One
of the most far reaching pieces of legislation involving hazardous materials
is Subtitle C of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) of 1976.
This legislation also spawned the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation,
and Liability Act (CERCLA), commonly known as the Superfund Act, the Superfund
Amendments Reauthorization Act (SARA) and the Emergency Planning and Community
Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) among others. We are very familiar with the requirements
of each of these regulations and their ramifications to the regulated community.
All of our technical personnel are certified OSHA 40-hour hazardous waste
site workers and supervisors and maintain annual updates.
Many active and former waste disposal sites were directly
affected by the RCRA legislation. Sites containing listed and characteristic
hazardous wastes were required to take additional actions to protect the surrounding
environment. Our staff is fully prepared to assist in the negotiation and
interpretation of Superfund RODs and have also researched and designed a wide
array of treatment technologies for Superfund sites including; soil vapor
extraction, air sparging, dual-phase extraction, oxygen release compound,
hydrogen release compound; phytoremediation, and zero-valence metals.
One of the most important elements of a waste disposal site is the liner system used to keep wastes in and water out. We have been involved in the evaluation of clay and synthetic liners as well as the design of final caps to meet various state and federal guidelines. Services that we provide relating to hazardous waste management include the following:

or remediation, Alpha-Omega has the experience and personnel to address the
